This is Mead's 8th volume to a series of small books, publishing and commenting on some of the most interesting literary remnants of gnosticism extant at the time (A HALF-CENTURY BEFORE THE NAG HAMMADI DISCOVERY), when they were all but completely ignored both within christianity and mainstream academia. Mead was not as precise as mainstream scholars in what he considered Gnosticism, including the Chaldaean Oracles as in this volume as well as its Volume II companion, items from the Corpus Hermeticum, and New Testament Apocrypha.
91 pages. Small format (4 1/2 by 5 3/4 inch) hardcover in full green cloth, title to spine. A very minor touch of scattered foxing, minor wear to corners & spine-tips.
