"The Picatrix", or Ghayat Al-Hakim as it is titled in Arabic, has long been regarded as source material in the Hermetic tradition. The text of this Medieval work consists of two volumes covering the art and practice of Astrological, Talismanic, and Astral Magic. Brought out of the obscurity of the Middle East it passed through the hands of many prominent figues throughout the history of Hermetic thought - Marsilio Ficinoo, Pico della Mirandola, Peter of Abano, and Henry Cornelius Agrippa were among them. Volume One contains the first two books of the Ghayat Al-Hakim, Volume Two contains the 3rd and 4th books and marks the first complete English translation ever. Both Volumes in Fine condition. 8vo. xviii & 174pp. Original full black goat-leather binding, with gilt titles to spine and upper board, marbled endpapers. Edition limited to 1000 numbered copies. The great majority of these were bound in cloth - a small number, as this, were bound in leather.
